Representatives from three INTERCEPTOR partner institutions recently met to harmonise their practices and reinforce collaboration within the project.
Held last February, the meeting focused on aligning ex vivo approaches used to study high-risk pathogen infections and to test medical countermeasures, while ensuring compliance with the 3Rs principles (Replacement, Reduction and Refinement).
Participants engaged in constructive discussions, sharing experience, identifying common challenges, and exploring best practices to improve coordination between research and healthcare infrastructures involved in INTERCEPTOR.
The meeting also addressed working methods and led to the harmonisation of key processes, including the use of standardised equipment and reagents. These efforts will facilitate the exchange of personnel and materials, particularly in the context of a pandemic response.
This initiative contributes to INTERCEPTOR’s broader objectives of strengthening preparedness and enhancing collaboration to respond effectively to biological threats at the European level.
